Obedience Training
And You

Do You want a well behaved pet?

If you answered yes, then obedience training is for you and your pet.

Remember: Just because someone claims to be an obedience trainer doesn't mean they are good.

" Make sure that you take your pet to the proper obedience class
" Make sure the instructor is not to harsh, thereby, will be causing fear in your dog.
" Check the class out before bringing your pet to the class. Sit in on some sessions and observe the instructor. If you see any harsh treatment towards any of the animals DO NOT pay your good hard earned money on something that will only cause you and your pet harm.

" Every obedience class can show you how but, do you follow through the rest of the week?????

" Remember the most important thing in obedience training is instant praise and instant rebuke. Loving affectionate voice and action expressing praise: a quick pull on lead and sad or harsh voice for correction.

" Training period for you and your pet should be 5-10 minutes. Be sure to end the lesson with praise and especially at the time your pet does or ties to do the right thing.

" DO NOT try to teach your pet many commands at one time. GO SLOW and take a week to teach a command. If it takes all week or more to get the right kind of response than work with it.

" At each session, review each exercise in the order learned before starting a new lesson. Praise him generously for each thing already learned. Many people fail to get results because they forget to pet and praise their dog.
