R a i n b o w Ranch Pet Retirement Home, Inc. Rainbow Ranch Pet Retirement Home, Inc. is a unique “rescue home” for dogs and cats. It is a long-term no-kill shelter and hospice located on 3 acres of land in Candler, Florida, near Ocala Florida. They are a chartered 501 C- 3 charitable organization. The dogs and cats are “rejects” from rescue groups, shelters and “estates” where no one wants the dogs and cats or they are un-adoptable hospice cases. Many of these animals are from a dark mist of abuse, neglect, and illness or were simply unwanted. The Ranch is an all volunteer animal shelter, rescue and humane education operation. The founders of Rainbow Ranch live at the facility with the animals. Another director lives close by and the fourth director lives in Charleston, West Virginia, overseeing rescue operations there. There are cozy rooms for the cats, and separate areas for the dogs. Each windowed room has cat trees, comfy chairs and beds for napping and boxes and toys for playtime. Cuddle beds and crates are scattered throughout for sleeping. All human-sized furniture is covered with blankets and throws. There is also a swimming pool the dogs are allowed to swim in when humans are present as lifeguards. You can arrange for a tour when visiting central Florida.
