• People are looking to get FREE dogs/cats (especially AKC dogs and small breeds) from the paper to resell as Breeders. The dogs/cats oftentimes spend the rest of their lives in small unsanitary conditions, and reproducing more and more animals.
• People get FREE dogs/cats from the paper to resell to medical Labs where they could have their heads cut open while conscious and other cruel and barbaric test. Imagine the horror your pet would feel if he or she ended up in on of the places???
• People who get FREE small animals such as rabbit and pet chickens from the paper try to resell to pet stores or even to slaughter for food. Imagine the horror your pet would feel if he or she ended up in one of these places???

Warning Signs to Look For:

• A person doesn’t take time to play with the animal, simply comes and looks at the dog/cat and says he or she is fine.
• Person in a hurry to leave with the animal.
• Person says it is for their child or grandchild and child is not with them.

People will lie to you and bring family members along to fool you.

Require these things before adopting out your animal…

• Driver’s License, current phone number, vet reference, personal reference, employer’s phone number an home residence.
• Don’t let the animal go to the home until you have checked all of the references. If someone really wants to adopt a pet they will wait a day or two and will respect your concern for the animal. If at all possible do a home check.
