The No Kill Alternative

Have A Heart seeks to work hand and hand with Marion County Animal Control, animal shelters and other rescue agencies to lesson the over population of unwanted animals through supporting already existing spay and neutering programs. It will also labor to eliminate the untimely deaths of otherwise healthy companion animals through an aggressive awareness program and special events to promote adoption of homeless pets.

Have A Heart is the result of four years of research and review of other successful "No Kill" programs including the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies, the Herinco SPCA, the Maddies Fund initiative, No More Homeless Pets, Best Friends and other successful organizations. We have joined over 10,000 other loosely formed groups in the United States that are currently specializing in some aspect of the "No Kill" alternative.

There is an alternative solution to the more than 80% death rate of unwanted companion animals in the USA and over 70% in Marion County. That answer lies in the hands of the Animal Welfare Organizations, Local Government Bodies, and the General Public. When good folks have a heart, there is always a way.and we aim to find it.
