Why Cats Should Live Indoors

TEN TOP REASONS
CATS
SHOULD LIVE INDOORS

1. Danger….Danger! If cats are indoors, they won't be hit by cars, or be mutilated by fan belts when they have crawled under the hood seeking warmth, unbeknowns to the driver who starts the engine.

2. More Danger! Mean people can do horrible things. They can intentionally poison cats. They can trap them to sell to research labs, or use as "bait" for illegal dog fights. They can torment and torture a cat for reasons that are simply incomprehensible.

3. Disease, Disease! Outdoor cats have an incredibly higher risk of contracting many diseases, such as Feline Leukemia, and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. Infectious disease transmitted through bit and scratch wounds, can cause a miserable death for your cat, and heartache for you, as you lose your feline friend. The average life span for a cat who is allowed to roam outside is only 2-5 years, compared to an average 12-16 years for the house cat.

4. Flea Freedom and Parasite Prohibition! No more flea-bitten legs for you or your cat. No more "bombing" the house. In addition to those pesky fleas, outdoor cats are likely to bring home a "circus" of other kinds of parasites: ticks, ear mites, lice, and all kinds of intestinal worms. YUCK, YUCK!

5. Money In Your Pocket. Money that you didn't need to spend on medical treatment for injuries, poisoning, and diseases that your INDOOR cat doesn't have.

6. MORE Danger, Danger! Cats who roam outside, risk exposure to many types of poisons, from azaleas and many other plants, to snakes, antifreeze, lawn fertilizers, and pesticides.

7. Quiet Nights. If cats are indoors, there won't be any of that horrid shrieking of cat fights, or disruptive barking of backyard dogs at the casts wandering just outside their fences.

8. PEACE OF MIND for you and your family.

9. The American Bird Conservancy, and the American Audubon Society, (all your neighbors who love to watch and feed birds), officially recommend keeping cats indoors to help prevent declining populations of wild birds.

10. Reduces Over Population.
